Web Hosting & Domain Registration

Web hosting is a must if you are in the business of providing websites or web solutions or if you only manage your own website. Despite this universal need there are many aspects of hosting that are a mystery to most people. There are thousands of hosting companies out there, each with different packages and prices vary widely. There are also many different types and levels of hosting. It is very difficult to decide which hosting company to use.

I intend to give a brief presentation to share some of my experiences in the area of web hosting. I have been running my own small hosting company for many years, and have also used hosting provided by many other companies. I will explain some of the terminology used and the different hosting levels available and when to choose each of them. I will mention which hosting companies I recommend in terms of cost and performance. I will also give a brief overview of registering a domain name.

The past several meetings have run pretty long, so this time around I will make the presentation short and leave lots of time for open discussion, networking and socializing.
